Forging Social and Health Care Partnerships
Blackpool Social Services was the first Social Services Department in mainland UK to adopt the Paris solution in 2001 and, as a development partner in4Tek, has contributed significantly to the continued development of the system.
Established as a Unitary Authority in 1998, Blackpool Social Services has an annual budget of £40 million and serves a population of around 150,000, a figure that swells dramatically during summer months. With the largest workforce and the highest unemployment rates in the North West, Blackpool has serious underlying social, economic, housing and health problems.
Blackpool Social Services is firmly committed to multi-disciplinary working, and has forged partnerships between health and social agencies, as well as with the various council departments to address these issues. Their shared goal is to reduce duplication of resources and to ensure that access to services is as clear and comprehensive as possible.
